Volunteer Opportunities
We plan on a crowd of over 10,000 people for the “RUSSIAN MOSAIC” Festival IN 2006. Events of this size require dozens of volunteers with positions ranging from directing traffic and registering visitors and guests to participation in Stage performance and Coordination of Businesses. Stage Performance and Coordination of Businesses We believe these positions to be the most important positions one can have at “RUSSIAN MOSAIC” Festival. After all, “RUSSIAN MOSAIC” is about leading others to our Culture. You can start thinking about 2006 “RUSSIAN MOSAIC” Festival right now. Please contact us and let us know you are ready to help, and fill out our online Volunteer Application to be a designated volunteer at the “RUSSIAN MOSAIC” Festival. Promotion Distribute posters, flyers and other promotional materials throughout surrounding communities and beyond.
Fundraising Be part of a fundraising team and help sell ads to businesses throughout the area.
Food Preparation You may want to donate pre-cooked food items for the artists and our “RUSSIAN MOSAIC” volunteers. (Examples would be brownies, bars of all types, cookies, salads, pies, etc. Recipes can be provided.)
Vendors/Merchandise Help in sales of clothing, CD's and other products at artists' booths.
Extreme Games Supervise game operations, ticket collecting, assisting with game gear, etc.
Children's Area Assist children playing games, help them with crafts, supervise children participating in the activities.
First Aid Booth Help with injuries and illnesses. You must be an EMT, paramedic, or nurse to volunteer in this position.
Arts Assistant Help with Common Ground Arts Exhibit including gallery set-up and/or tear-down; assist with interactive arts activities.
Greeter Greet and welcome festival attenders, pass out programs and literature.
Parking Direct traffic and parking lot activity.
Sound Assistant Assist Sound Engineers - some stages starting Thursday at 5pm. Must be willing to work on all stages. Prior experience is required.
Set-Up Help get grounds set up and ready for the festival. Begins Sunday, September 17 10:00am. Volunteers must be 16 years or older. Stage Volunteers must be 18 years or older.
Tear-Down Dismantle stages and booths. Begins late Sunday 7 pm to about 9pm. We need at least 5 people. Must be 18 or older.
Tram Driver and Driver Assistant Experience driving trucks or tractors required, must be 21 or older. Drive tram on a designated route, providing transportation around the grounds to the festival-goers. Each tram will also have a driver's assistant to enforce tram rules and moderate riders behavior.
Clean-Up Assist clean-up detail prior, during and after the festival by walking the grounds picking up trash. Any age volunteer is acceptable for this area.
Camping Attendants Camping Attendants help register and assist campers, answer questions, and sell supplies at the camp store located by the camping office (camp store hours 10am-10pm)
General Help wherever it's needed!
VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN DURING THE FESTIVAL During the Festival, all volunteers must check in at the “RUSSIAN MOSAIC” Information Booth or with your designated Volunteer Coordinator 15 minutes before your scheduled time. You will receive instructions and an identification badge for your assigned area. Your scheduled day and time will be confirmed prior to the festival.
Volunteer Policies
Of course, to be consistent with the purpose of “RUSSIAN MOSAIC”, we request that all volunteers and staff, vendors, subcontractors or anyone working on the Penn’s Landing Place premises for the Festival agree to the following policies:
Anybody 16 or older is eligible to volunteer unless otherwise specified.
Appropriate modest dress is required at all times.
No smoking (unless in designated area).
No use of alcohol or drugs.
No profanity or inappropriate language.
No solicitation for any purpose is allowed unless approved by “RUSSIAN MOSAIC”.
