| Sunday, September 19th, 2010. Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia.
On September 19th, 2010, the Russian Americans Chamber of Commerce for the Greater Philadelphia Area presented its 8th Annual Festival entitled the “Russian Mosaic.” The Russian Mosaic Festival derives its name from the many different people and businesses from various walks of life that comes together on this day, each representing a different piece of the “Russian Mosaic.” For the 7th year of the Festival, the Russian speaking community of Philadelphia joined together to rejoice in the rich traditions of their culture. Thousands of people in attendance enjoyed a six hour concert and all in attendance were able to participate in a free lottery that offered an opportunity to win numerous prizes, including gift certificates for local restaurants and stores, gifts, and the main prize: all expenses paid dinner and accommodations to the famous Bucks County historical landmark known as the Temperance House. All donations will be transferred to “Hope” – as program which helps women and children with disabilities in need. Many local politicians and several current Philadelphia mayoral candidates attended the Festival, including Congresswoman Alison Schwartz of the 13th Congressional District, Former Deputy Mayor Thomas Knox and Former City Controller Jonathan Sidel. Congratulations and proclamations also were sent by Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell, Philadelphia Mayor John Street and United States Senator from Pennsylvania Rick Santorum.
